Sad Day tomorrow.

Please keep Carter and I in your prayers this weekend. As we have made a decision to put one of our fur babies down tomorrow. This is a decision that we have been dreading for awhile now, and I am not looking forward to but it has to be done before Baby Noah comes since his arrival is coming very near. The reason that we are putting Sophia girl our fur baby down is cause she is very possessive of me and she is very aggressive to people that come to our house to visit, we always have to put her in one of the rooms, not knowing how she will act with them in the house. She has nipped at my parents before and his nephew and she has always been fine with my parents until the last couple of months. I do not want to take a chance when Noah is here.
This is the last thing that I want to do. We have talked to the vet and she thinks that putting her down is the best thing for her, not knowing how she would react to another family. She is going to be missed greatly. She has been my fur baby for the last 3 yrs.

What would you do in my situation, would you do what we are doing?

Could you not try find a good home for her?

Hey Jen...I also have a very "aggressive" dog. But, let me tell you, I have been so surprised now that Baby K is here, because my dog has been wonderful with him. I read that when a person is pregnant that your dog can sense the hormones. Has your dog always been aggressive, or has it recently gotten worse? I know you are have a difficult time with this decision, so I will not weigh in my opinion. I will say though, that I am so surprised by the fact that my dog didn't act that way towards the baby. When I delivered him, we took a blanket that Baby K had be wrapped up in and put it in his dog kennel until we brought the baby home. Just a thought for you if you decide this isn't something you want to do.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. If it were me (and remember this is me not you, so you need to make your own decision), I would take her to a no kill shelter or find another home for her. I understand your concern though and pray that God will show you what to do.

Jenny, you are doing the right thing. If you gave her to another family, chances are Sophie will eventually bite one of them, or one of their acquaintenances. At least this way, you will know no one will be at risk from your much loved pet.. We all love you and want what is best for you and your family. We are thinking of you and praying for you during this sad and hard time. With Much Love, Aunt Joyce

Gosh I just dont know. If you really think she is aggressive toward anyone other then the two of you maybe it is the right thing. I kinda agree with Mandi about taking her to a no kill shelter where they might be able to teach her how to behave. I would not be keeping her though. Sorry you have to make that decision.
